The sunset lit up these foothills in the Rosillos Ranch in a vibrant red color that stood out in stark difference from the greens and tans of the rest of the desert.

From this view, the desert looks soft and inviting, with the grass and scrub looking warm and almost welcoming.  Don’ t be fooled, however.   There’s very little in this image that won’t scratch or sting you if you’re not careful!

This shot was taken after finishing the short hike at the balanced rock, looking to the north into the private land at the Rosillos Ranch.

  7. Beatiful scene Derrick and very natural as well. I agree with you on everything in the scene being able to stick to you. The desert is not a place for shorts.
