Caddo Lake
A few weeks ago, I got a bit stir crazy from not hitting the trails and headed east for a different type of scenery than the wide open spaces of my recent trips to the panhandle. It never ceases to amaze me that in roughly the same amount of time it takes me to get to “the west”, I can also be immersed in a completely different environment.
Caddo Lake is the only natural lake in Texas, and located on the border between Louisiana and Texas. Swaps, cypress trees and Spanish moss are what I expected to see and Caddo Lake State Park didn’t disappoint.

Superb post, Derrick. All three photographs are evocative of this place, this natural lake. I particularly like the top two from an artistic standpoint. The middle one has a unique quality and good composition in my view.

Thank you, David! It was a different experience for me for sure. Wide angle lens was almost more of a hindrance than a help on this one and some of my favorite shots from this trip were from my longer 70-200.
