Let’s go for a ride

I was out in Big Bend country all last week once again.

It was an epic week, driven by the weather.  The first half, at Big Bend National Park – was wonderful weather mostly.   Warm days and cool nights made for perfect outdoor weather.  Our last night in the park was full of foreboding, however – camping out in the desert, we had to pull our vehicles around our campsite in a makeshift wind break as the front moved through full of sound and fury.

The 2nd half of the trip at the Big Bend Ranch State Park was more or less survival mode, coping with extremely cold temps – especially for Texas! – and working and walking in a rather uncomfortable environment.

It was a marvelous time in the desert with great friends – and I can’t wait to go back.

So climb in, strap your seat belt on and let’s go for a ride in the Big Bend.

I snapped this shot with my G12, strapped onto its little tripod just as the sun was coming up.  The golden rays of sunrise were strong enough to even turn some Texas blacktop a lovely gold/red color.

  4. Good picture! Is this the natural color of the vegetation or is it result of the sun rays?
