Vintage balls

I caught sight of this little scene a few weeks ago at a vintage base ball (yes, two words 😉 ) tournament.

The (more or less) round balls with the half eaten apple in the background brought a grin to my face.  I hope it does the same for you!

  1. Very cool…
baseballs always photograph so well. And they’re delicious, too. A little hard on the enamel, though… it’s probably best I try stick to apples… 🙂

  2. Thanks inky!

  3. From the title I thought this might be another self-portrait… 😉

Cool shot! Would never have guessed the last ‘ball’ was an apple!

  4. Well, if that apple is anything like some of them you find in stores these days it’d be about the same as biting into a base ball…

  5. Very whimsical shot, Derrick. I like it! I have never heard of base ball (two words) is this different from the one word variety?

    • In the 19th century the game was called base ball with two words. Over time, it morphed into the term we are familiar with today. Back in the day, you played without gloves and if you caught the ball on one hop it was still an out. There are a few other differences, but you can still clearly recognize the game as an incarnation of the modern game. 😉

  6. Nice balls, Derrick…
    🙂

  7. That is such a “Snow white” shot!! Two thumbs up on the bright idea!
