Better to burn out…. than fade away

Couldn’t help but think of those lyrics when looking through this series of images.  Soon after the sun crests the Sierras del Carmen, the east side of the Chisos mountains light up with a powerful red glow.  And it burns out quickly thereafter.   I’ve timed it before, and it’s good for a handful of minutes before the red glow dissipates and a more muted, desert tan takes over.  Burns out indeed!

An added bonus to this image is the string of clouds above the mountains, creating a perfect triangle between earth and sky.
