CW 150
For those of you keeping track, we are well into the 150th anniversary of the Civil War. I was out and about, heading to a shooting range in east Texas and passed this dilapidated old barn and couldn’t help but think of some of the photos taken by Matthew Brady, perhaps like this one….. My history nerd and my photography nerd met and I knew I had to stop and snap this shot and age it a bit.
Anyway, that’s my story and I’m sticking to it!

Mathew Brady would’ve been proud! Good to see someone is keeping his photographic history alive. Taught my middle schoolers about him : )

I like seeing pictures of old buildings like this, with the photo also made to look old and weathered. Nicely done!

Thank you – I’m with you…. old buildings like this have so much character. If only their walls could talk!

Uh, yeah, me and the hubs were just sittin’ around discussin’ our party plans for the 150th anniversay… 😉
The aging works well here… I think I would have liked more field on the right side. It is looking a little bit bulls-eye-ish to me. Oh well…just gives “your history nerd and photography nerd’ a reason go back… 🙂

Thanks Tracy! I hear what you’re saying… but if I went any further to the right, you’d be able to see the farm road I was standing on to take this image… and that wouldn’t have done! 🙂

Generally, after the novelty of that “aging” wears off, I’m not that big a fan of such gimmicks, but I like this one done that way. I have some old barn photos…hmmmmm…

Really, really cool, Mr. B… on so many levels!
Reminds me of Sally Mann’s Civil War Battlefield images (wet plate, I believe)… just hauntingly powerful…
