March 2nd is a good day of the year for Texians anywhere – in addition to being Texas Independence Day, it’s also Sam Houston’s birthday!
One of the great local traditions in Huntsville is someone always leaves a plate of oysters, black coffee and sugar cookies at Sam’s graveside. Legend has it, that was one of his favorite meals!
