Bisti badlands

The Bisti badlands in northwest New Mexico are full of surprises. Once upon a time, a lush forested region with plenty of water – today it is a desolate and isolated area well far away from the middle of nowhere.

If you go visit (and you should) – have a GPS, know how to use it, have plenty of water and a spirit of adventure and you will do just fine. The harsh climate and rough terrain are not for everyone but the journey is definitely worth the time it takes to get there.
