The 4th!

It all started here:

Concord

From under the shadow of the Patriot, you can see across the bridge.  I can’t imagine what it must have felt like to see a mass of red coats (and I don’t mean the slang, redcoat), but an actual mass of red coats  just across the bridge from you.  Those red coats symbolized not just a hostile force, but the most powerful nation on earth.  What must it have felt like to stand there toe to toe with an Empire on which the sun literally never set?

Standing by the bridge, the other side is just a mere stone’s throw away.

Yet still those men stood there and chose to slug it out with the mighty British Empire.

The shot

Happy Birthday, America.
