On my afternoon bike rides through the woods, I had been noticing that some really, really good light was filtering in through the trees as the sun was setting.  One afternoon off the bike I headed out with the camera and set up as the sun was setting.

The symmetry of this shot caught my eye!

  1. I find that some of the best shots I’ve taken are ones where I wan’t planning to shoot, but I had my camera with me to capitalize on the opportunity.

  2. Absolutely! See my rule #1 for taking great images:

    – always have camera with you! 🙂

  3. So true. I kinda miss my Lx3. Small enough to carry. Decent performance. Seems quite a few photographers also ride bikes. I ride a recumbent.
While I try to compose my pictures I often find blind luck plays a bigger part in the process than I care to admit!

    • If I’m somewhere, like on the bike and a ways away from the car, I’ve been known to stow my Canon S90 in my jersey pocket. While I won’t always even bother to stop and take a picture if I do have the camera – I nearly ALWAYS wish I had it with me when I don’t bring it.

      Thanks for stopping by!

  4. Moral of the picture: Bike Rides are essential for some amazing shots!! 😉
